Late last week, President Obama announced a “fix” to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) that would allow individual policyholders to retain their current health care coverage. 

A number of current products are already considered “grandfathered” by the ACA, and this announcement would permit even those individual products that do not meet the requirements of the ACA to be extended at least into 2014.

This marks a significant change in the direction of the law that will impact various products and plans Carriers had slated to discontinue at the end of this year.

We are watching and working with our carriers to evaluate the impact of this announcement and determine the appropriate next steps.  We expect more announcements in the next week or so.
